National Theatre Live will release a cinematic recording of 'Golden Boy' in theaters worldwide beginning Nov. 5. The production stars Josh O'Connor in the lead role of Joe Bonaparte. Tickets are currently available through the National Theatre Live website.

The stage adaptation is based on the play by Clifford Odets. Sam Yates directed the production, which played to sold-out audiences at London's Almeida Theatre. The cast also includes Hayley Squires and Daniel Mays, with a live string quartet performing during the show.

O'Connor's character is described as a young violinist who abandons his musical future for professional boxing. He seeks fame and fortune in the sport. The synopsis states he must confront what he is willing to sacrifice and who he is willing to become. The character faces a world that demands he choose a side.

A new clip shows the character struggling with his desire to return to music. In the footage, O'Connor embraces a past version of himself playing the violin. His face is bleeding from a boxing injury. The scene was captured during a live performance at the Almeida.

This marks O'Connor's first return to the London stage in five years. During that time, he won an Emmy for his role as King Charles in 'The Crown.' He has also appeared in films including 'La Chimera,' 'Challengers,' 'Knives Out: Wake Up Dead Man,' and 'Disclosure Day.'

O'Connor has been mentioned in discussions about the next James Bond film. However, his next screen appearance will be this recording of his stage role. The cinema release begins Nov. 5.
