Police have launched an investigation into a shooting that erupted at an apartment complex in Hialeah late on Thursday night. The incident, which occurred around 11:30 p.m., has left local authorities scrambling for details, as the identities of the victims and the status of any suspects remain unconfirmed.

The timeline of the event began when surveillance cameras captured the sudden burst of gunfire. According to neighbors, the sound of weapons firing was quickly followed by the arrival of numerous police cars and helicopters. Kelly Moregon, who resides nearby, told CBS News Miami that she immediately took her daughter to her mother’s room, describing it as the furthest room in the house for safety.

In the minutes following the initial shots, first responders were seen on video transporting a victim via medical helicopter. The patient was taken to the Jackson Trauma Center. A male resident of the same building reported seeing two men emerge from the complex covered in blood. He stated that he asked officers present at the scene if anyone had been injured, and they confirmed that a couple of people had been shot.

A Spanish-speaking woman who lives in the corner unit indicated that a gathering had been taking place in her apartment before the violence started. She noted that she witnessed two individuals arguing. Later, she told reporters that her husband was the one shot in the incident, though she described his condition as stable.

Residents expressed discomfort at the proximity of the violence to their homes. One neighbor, who had been outside during the event, described the experience of having bullets fly near a child. As of Friday, police have not released the names of those injured or indicated whether they are searching for one specific gunman or multiple suspects.
