A Los Angeles Police Department officer struck and killed a 32-year-old woman on Woodman Avenue in the Valley of San Fernando on Saturday, October 31, 2026. The victim died at the scene of the collision. She was hit while walking in the area of Valley Glen, specifically between Bessemer Street and Erwin Street. The incident occurred shortly after 10:30 p.m. local time.

Police received a call reporting a shooting at a Halloween party in Sherman Oaks. Approximately 300 people were gathered at the event when the reports came in. The responding unit was dispatched to the location on Weddington Street as additional support. The officer involved in the fatal crash was en route to that specific address when the accident happened.

The patrol vehicle had its lights and sirens activated during the approach. The officer struck the pedestrian as he navigated the route to the scene. Authorities confirmed that the woman was the only person killed in the incident. Her identity had not been made public as of Monday morning, November 2, 2026.

A neighbor in Sherman Oaks described the aftermath to ABC. The resident said they saw a police car stopped in the middle of the street. They also saw an officer standing near the curb looking toward the road. The neighbor then observed the body lying on the pavement in the center of the avenue.

The LAPD stated that the Halloween party dispersed without further major issues. No injuries were reported from the initial shooting call. It remains unclear whether officers found firearms at the party location. The department has not released additional details regarding the specific circumstances of the crash beyond the initial response timeline.
