The NFL has a long history of pairing major musical acts with its championship game, but the selection for the upcoming contest in Inglewood marks a return to the city for the halftime slot. On Monday, the league, Apple Music, and Jay-Z confirmed that the rapper will perform the Halftime Show for Super Bowl LXI.
The event is scheduled for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium. Jay-Z’s production company, Roc Nation, has managed the halftime production since 2019. The company recently signed a five-year extension to maintain that role through 2029.
Roc Nation’s tenure has shifted the musical focus toward hip-hop and rap. The 2026 show in Santa Clara featured Bad Bunny, with guest appearances by Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin. Other recent performers include Rihanna in 2023, Usher in 2024, and Kendrick Lamar and SZA in 2025.
The last time the halftime show was held in Los Angeles was in 2022. That lineup included Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar, with cameos by 50 Cent and Anderson .Paak.
Jay-Z, a 25-time Grammy winner, has never previously performed at the Super Bowl. He is currently on the Jay-Z 30 Tour to mark the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, and the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint.
The tour began in July with three nights at Yankee Stadium. It continued in September with two shows in London and one in Paris. The final scheduled shows took place on October 23 and 24 at SoFi Stadium, the same venue that will host the Super Bowl performance.
