Caitlin Clark has entered a multiyear partnership with Dick's Sporting Goods and Foot Locker. She is the first individual athlete, regardless of gender, to sign as a brand partner for either retailer. The agreement allows Clark to work with both companies on custom promotions. These efforts will support her signature footwear, apparel, and product lines. She will also participate in brand activations and community events.
The deal follows the global release of Clark's first signature shoe with Nike on Oct. 1. The launch marked the largest women's signature shoe debut in Nike's history. The rollout included an 18-piece apparel assortment. The shoe sold out within hours on Nike.com and other sneaker retail sites. High consumer demand and widespread acclaim characterized the initial sales period.
Clark cited the retailers' history with sport and basketball as key factors in her decision. She noted their ability to connect with fans globally. In a statement, Clark described Dick's Sporting Goods as a familiar stop before any sports season during her childhood. She called being the first brand partner for both companies a special full-circle moment.
This is the first joint athlete partnership between Dick's and Foot Locker under the Dick's Inc. umbrella. Both retailers have previously worked with athletes on marketing campaigns and in-store events. However, this marks their first collaboration at the brand level. The deal represents a new tier of athlete involvement for the two companies.
Ed Stack, CEO of Dick's, said he looks forward to building on the energy Clark brings to basketball and to winning new fans. He stated that the partnership offers new ways for people to connect around a shared passion for sport. Brett O'Brien, senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Foot Locker North America, noted that Clark's influence extends far beyond the court. He said she has captivated fans and inspired a new generation.
Clark remains a top star in the WNBA despite the Indiana Fever's first-round playoff elimination. She has not yet won a title. A recent SportsPro marketability ranking listed her as the most marketable player in the WNBA. She ranks as the No. 15 most marketable athlete worldwide. She currently holds long-term endorsement deals with Nike, Wilson, Gatorade, State Farm, and Panini.
