The SportsLine Projection Model predicts the Detroit Pistons will defeat the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday, despite the visitors holding the league’s best record.
Detroit enters the game with a 6-1 mark, while Philadelphia sits at 7-1. The model favors the Pistons by 2.5 points for the contest at 7 p.m. ET.
The model’s recommendation rests on Detroit’s defensive performance and its recent success against Philadelphia. The Pistons have won both of their home games this season by eight points.
In their previous meeting on Oct. 27, Detroit won 106-93 in Philadelphia. Cade Cunningham scored 26 points in that game, and the Pistons limited the 76ers to 40% shooting from the field.
Cunningham continues to play at an elite level this season. He scored a season-high 33 points in a 33-point victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Monday.
The model has simulated the Pistons versus 76ers matchup 10,000 times. In 62% of those simulations, Detroit emerged as the winner.
The model is currently on a 26-11 record on top-rated NBA spread picks since the start of the previous season. It has returned nearly $19,000 in profit for $100 players on its top-rated picks since 2018.
Beyond the NBA, the model has selected two other bets for the week. It backs Sacramento State to cover as 25.5-point underdogs against Toledo in the Mid-American Conference on Wednesday.
Sacramento State won its first Mid-American Conference game last week by defeating Kent State 31-10. The model projects the Hornets to cover the spread in 74% of simulations.
For the NFL, SportsLine expert R.J. White favors the Green Bay Packers by 3 points against the New England Patriots on Sunday. White notes that the Packers have held the Cowboys, Lions, and Panthers to 20 points or less in three straight games.
White argues that the Patriots’ recent offensive success has come against weak defenses. He believes the Packers’ defense can limit the Patriots, who have allowed 26 or more points to the Jaguars, Bills, and Bears.
