Tampa Bay Rays won 4-3 in 12 innings on Tuesday at Tropicana Field, cutting Milwaukee's lead to 3-1 in the World Series.
The victory snapped an eight-game winning streak for the Brewers and forced a decisive fifth game. The series remains tied at 1-3 in Milwaukee's favor after the Rays dropped the first three contests. Those losses included two at American Family Field and one at their home park.
Tampa Bay is only the fifth team in 26 World Series to win a game after trailing 3-0. The four previous teams that achieved this milestone all lost the subsequent fifth game. Across 43 postseason series, Boston is the sole team to overcome a 3-0 deficit, which they did against New York in the 2004 American League Championship Series.
The Brewers sought to become the second team in history to sweep both their league championship series and the World Series. Their streak of eight consecutive wins ended with Tuesday's loss. Jacob Misiorowski is scheduled to start for Milwaukee in the next matchup.
Game 5 is set for Wednesday at 8 p.m. Eastern at Tropicana Field. The best-of-seven series will continue in San Petersburg, Florida, with the Rays aiming to extend the contest further.
